Narrative

CALHOUN FALLS, SC – A woman was killed Monday afternoon following a rollover crash just north of Calhoun Falls.

The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. on South Carolina Highway 81, approximately 3.5 miles north of Calhoun Falls.

According to troopers, an SUV traveling north on SC-81 deviated from the right side of the road. In an effort to regain control, the SUV crossed the center of the road. However, it then veered off the right side once more, resulting in the vehicle overturning and colliding with trees.

The driver, 23-year-old Ryleigh Shaw, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Investigators believe speed and driver distraction played a role in the deadly crash.
