Narrative
LANCASTER CO., SC – Two people died, and a third person was hospitalized after a sedan struck the trailer on a pickup truck along a highway north of Lancaster.
The incident happened around 2:55 p.m. on the southbound side of US-521, just north of Lancaster.
The investigation indicates that a southbound 1992 Buick sedan struck a boat hitched to a parked Toyota pickup truck. The collision killed the driver and passenger from the Toyota, both of whom had exited the truck to address a problem with the boat trailer.
Authorities identified the victims as 34-year-old Timmy Underwood and 29-year-old Kirstie Underwood.
Medics transported the driver of the Buick to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
