Narrative
SUMTER, SC – A 45-year-old man died Friday after crashing his vehicle along a highway in north-central Sumter County.
The incident happened just before 2 a.m. on the southbound side of US-15 near Manning Avenue. This is just southwest of the City of Sumter Aquatics Center.
The investigation indicates that for unknown reasons, the southbound 2020 Honda sedan left the highway and hit a traffic control pole.
The speeding driver, identified as Eric Hazzard, died at the scene of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
