One person was lifted in critical condition and another lost their life in a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer on I-85 near Blacksburg after 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 27th. The driver of Traffic Unit 1, hit a retainer wall, and then was struck by the driver of Traffic Unit 2, according to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office. The impact caused the driver of Traffic Unit 1 – 56-year-old Leigh Ann Hamilton Marshall – and the passenger with her to get trapped inside the car. Marshall suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger with her was sent to a hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
