Narrative

GAFFNEY, SC – A moped driver died Friday after a vehicle struck him at a busy intersection in Gaffney County.

The incident happened just after 5:15 p.m. in the area of Pleasant School Drive and Wilcox Avenue, which is just south of Lake Welchel.

Police say that a northbound 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to yield right-of-way before hitting the westbound moped.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim in the crash.

Police charged the driver of the Jeep with failure to yield right of way.

A full investigation is underway.
