Narrative
A woman’s life was claimed in a head-on crash on SC Highway 11 near Old Metal Road near Gaffney before 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20th. The driver of Traffic Unit 1 was headed north, while the driver of Traffic Unit 2 was traveling south. For reasons unknown,, the driver of Traffic Unit 1 crossed over the lines and collided head-on with Traffic Unit 2. The driver of Traffic Unit 2 was later identified as 63-year-old Susan Goforth Padgett. Padgett succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger with her was sent to a hospital for unspecified injuries. The driver and passenger of Traffic Unit 1 were also hospitalized.
