Narrative
GREENVILLE, SC – A 43-year-old man died Friday morning after a vehicle struck him along a busy roadway in the Pleasant Valley area of Greenville.
The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on South Pleasantburg Drive, not far from I-85. This is near Aldi and The Home Depot.
Police say the victim was crossing Pleasantburg Drive outside of a designated crosswalk when a southbound driver vehicle struck him. Authorities identified the victim as Gabriel Maurice Irby.
It’s unclear if the vehicle involved in the crash remained in the scene, but police aren’t calling it a hit-and-run at this time.
